Question

how is 14 lbs fireline by berkley for surf

Response

Berkley Fireline is a fine alternative to monofilament. Fireline is a made of a rugid material called micro dynema. Fireline is very abrasion resistant, has no stretch and has a smaller diameter than alternate lines per # rating. 14# fireline has a smaller diameter than that of 14# monofilament. This enables anglers to get more line on the spool when distance casting becomes an issue. The smaller diameter provides better penetration (cutting) through the water because of its smaller diameter. This aids in getting plugs to dive deeper. Fireline works well off jetties, the surf and in deep water applications such as vertical jigging. The non-stretch feature allows for better hook sets, strikes detection and better feel of bottom structure. We used Fireline when dragging bottom bouncers on the Professional Walleye Trail. We could actually feel if the lures were dragging over soft or hard bottom. We could also feel the pulse of the spinner blades through the Fireline.
