Tackle Tech Question HI FIRST TIME IN THE BAY OUT OF HUSTED LANDING FAIRTON NJ.OUT FOR SIX HOURS USING SQUID AND BLOOD WORMS DRIFFING NO FISH AT ALLWHAT MIGHT WE HAVE DONE WRONG?? Response Brian- You may not have been doing anything wrong. The fish may not have been there. However, reports indicate that fish are taking fresh clams, live herring and live bunker. That would be my first guess! There are many things to consider when fishing. there are thousands of things that we can do wrong to not catch fish but typically I see folks doing one thing wrong that throws off the bite. On the delaware, that could be that people anchor when they should be drifting, or drfiting when they should be anchored, they do not use fresh bait, they fish the wrong place at the wrong tide etc.... Now i don't always catch fish but to consistently catch, many things have to fall in line. That is where experience comes into play, a good network of reliable information and being on the water! All I can say is that when nothing is happening, don't be afraid to try/experiment with something new. When a fish does hit, try to remember what he hit, how he hit it and where he hit it. Over time, you'll get the upper hand. Also, it has been my experience that once you think you have it all figured out, they throw you a curve ball and you must start all over! good luck and good fishing Chris Gatley www.ardentangler.org |
