Tackle Tech Question Do you know of any "snips" for braided line. I am not looking for sisscors with sharp points. Cabelas used to offer a snip with ceramic edges with rounded edges that you could put in your wader pocket. Looked like a child's safey sisscor. Any ideas? Response There are a few on the market. The ones that work for me are the made by Fiskar. They are made of plastic and have a metal insert, just like the children's scissors. Donnmar, otherwise known as Check Point, makes another great cutter. The model that I use is the CP950. They run about $100.00, a matching sheath runs around $25.00. If money is no object, then the VanStall pliers are the way to go. With a price of around $180.00, they are too rich for most people, but when you get to use them, you will just fall in love with them. Although I use these pliers mainly for fly fishing, they would be good for anything else. Orvis makes great products for fly fishing and probably have something that you are looking for. Just one thing you should know, most braided lines will not cut unless you have some type of tension on them. Tight lines Tackle Tech |
