Today's
Technology With all the lures on the market today, it is hard to choose a lure that will catch fish time and time again. In recent years, the technology used for making our lives better has turned in favor of the angler. The latest lures to hit the market are the Mega Bait swimming plug, and the Spro bucktail. These two lures have become my favorite in my arsenal for striped bass, weakfish, and fluke. With the incredible finish and action, on both of these lures, making a choice, which lure to use has become a little easier. With the introduction of the Mega Bait lure around the fall of 1999, fishing would never seem to be the same. First on the scene was the JB110. This lure at 4 1/2" and one ounce is a rocket. With its internal ball bearings, extreme casting distances are easily achieved. The ball bearings also ad a rattling sound, which is a fish attracted in itself. The profile of this lure is like no other on the market. Another great lure is the Triple Hooker. At 4 1/2" and 3/4 ounce this is a great small bait lure. This year we saw the latest Mega Bait to hit the market, the JB130. At 5" and 1 1/4 ounces, this lure stands out on its own. Not to be forgotten is the LDS 6", and the LDS 7" model. The colors chosen for these lures are unbelievable. With realistic features never seen on any other lure, this is one lure you don't want to be left without. Some of the popular colors, and my favorites, are the Silver Shad (09), Light Shad (08), Dark Shad (06), Schoolbus Yellow (18), Kuro Kin (01), Bass (04), and the Phantom Violet (15). The Spro bucktail is unlike any other bucktail on the market. Made with Gamakatsu hooks, and brilliant fish catching colors, this bucktail is my favorite for those shy deep-water bass. And when it comes to fluke, there is no other jig that can compare. The lifelike features of these bucktails are phenomenal. With the unique shape of the head, and the realistic eyes, these bucktails are sure to please any angler from beginner to veteran. The four colors that were selected match the hatch perfectly. With colors like White, Green Shad, Chartreuse, and Blue Shad, catching that trophy fish will now be a little easier. The sizes of the bucktails are 1/2 and 3/4 ounce with a 5/0 hook, 1 ounce with a 7/0 hook, and a 2 and 3 ounce with a 8/0 hook. The hooks that are used are from Gamakatsu.
